4 Natural Ways to get ready for allergy season

The pollen is coming, the pollen is coming...!! Early spring is a great time of year but suffering from seasonal allergies is not. Here are 4 of the top ways you can use products made in nature to help deal with this problem.

Ginger and Turmeric for Season Allergies

Before we look at how to prepare for allergy season, let's just take a moment to understand what is happening in our bodies. In previous posts, we dove much deeper into what triggers an allergic response.

Our bodies see the small particles of pollen as invaders and can trigger the release of histamine and immune system cells to fight this phantom invader. The response can be completely out of balance with the actual threat. That heavy response leaves us with the sick, tired and with a runny nose, and itching eyes. The classic signs of seasonal allergies.

You can build a daily routine that helps you all year but is especially powerful around allergy season. These four steps can build a healthy immune system, support a balanced immune repose and clean your body of toxins from the battle with allergy invaders.

  1. Eat leafy green vegetables and foods high in fiber to maintain a healthy gut. Happy well-fed gut bacteria help support a strong immune system.
  2. Add natural foods that help your body maintain a balanced health response. Ginger and turmeric contain natural polyphenols that can support a healthy immune response and promote body repair. Raw honey, used through the ages for allergies is infused with our organic Turmeric or Ginger, Ginger Bites or Turmeric Dusted Baby Ginger are all things you can eat and enjoy several times a day as a snack, in a salad, in trail mix, in beverages or as a snack. Also, choose 2-3 serves per day of fruits rich in Quercetin. This is a natural flavanol found in a range of foods including apples, red grapes and red onions but the star of this show is capers.
  3. Get around 8 hours of good quality sleep per night to help your body rest and repair. Remember it thinks it is under attack and needs time to recuperate.
  4. Cleans your body with 5-8 cups of water a day.

These four steps are positive daily changes that can help with whole body health but may be your secret weapon for enjoying spring free from heavy synthetic over the counter drugs.
